The first batch of beneficiaries under the Volta Youth Development Fund has officially received financial support, marking a significant milestone in efforts to empower young entrepreneurs across the Volta Region.

At a presentation ceremony, the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, handed over cheques of GHS 10,000 each to the first 10 beneficiaries of the Fund. The initiative, which was launched on 7th March 2026, is designed to address youth unemployment by providing financial assistance, mentorship, and opportunities for young people to establish and expand sustainable businesses.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Gunu reiterated that the Fund is his flagship youth empowerment initiative aimed at enabling young entrepreneurs to create jobs and contribute to the socio-economic development of the Volta Region.

He commended the Board of the Fund, chaired by Togbe Komla Sakpiti V, as well as the Fund Administrator, Mr. Stephen D. K. Timinca, for their dedication and commitment to the successful implementation of the programme.

The Minister congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to invest the funds wisely to grow their businesses. He encouraged them to become ambassadors of the initiative by creating opportunities for others and inspiring more young people to embrace entrepreneurship.

Hon. Gunu also appealed to corporate organisations, development partners, philanthropists, and well-meaning individuals to support the Volta Youth Development Fund to enable it to reach more young entrepreneurs and accelerate the region’s economic growth.
